There were three types of soldiers in the middle ages: the archers, knights, and the foot soldiers. The knights were armed soldiers that rode on horses. Only the rich people got to be noble enough to be a knight. To become a knight you had to born with it and you had to be worthy to be one. The knight would serve 40 days in military to prove to the king that he can be a knight.
